Victorian, dating to the 1870's, this marquise shaped locket features two stones of Scottish origin; the Bloodstone (or Heliotrope) and the Carnelian, often seen in jewellery of the time. Measuring 3cm in length, the locket opens easily to reveal a glassed compartment ready to hold a precious photograph. It has a nice 'heritage' feel and will always look at home on a long chain as a signature piece.
The metal is 9ct gold cased (meaning that all the hinges and frames for strength, are base metal) there is some wear of the gold casing to the bale which can be seen in the photographs, but not detrimental to it's continued wear.
