Dating from the Aesthetic Period circa 1870's-80's when artists sought inspiration from the styles of the Middle Ages, this splendidly precious antique ring has had little wear, having been kept safe by over the years by several generations. The central rosette is set with an old pale golden cushion shaped hand cut Diamond which gently scintillates within the scalloped and enamelled golden border so beautifully. We estimate it has a weight of 0.80ct.
Richly adorned with the finest Taille d'Epargne enamel work expressed in a black tracery down the broad shoulders contrasting with the brightness of the rich gold metal of the band, this ring is substantially made with Austro Hungarian marks for 18ct gold.
It has had little wear, having been kept safe by several generations, there are just minimal losses to the enamel surrounding the Diamond and to the shoulders (see the photographs on zoom). Unfortunately we aren't able to adjust the ring size due to the delicacy of the enamel work. It measures as a size 'O' or US '7'.
