Floridly embellished with elaborately flowing hand engraving, this divine antique locket is one of the nicest we've had in a while. Save for the plaque left plain for an initial it is beautifully fully engraved with a design of scrolling leafage, adding to the romantic cachet of such a piece. Nicely substantial and an unusual shape too, it is a tremendously stylish piece of Victorian jewellery, and one which looks just as fashionable today as when it was made 150 years ago.
A lovely gift for birthday or anniversary, as it opens to reveal two compartments for photographs or mementoes, it is of 9ct yellow gold 'back and front', meaning the hinges and sides are of base metal (for strength). Measures 3cm from the top of the locket, excluding the ring.
