In the Archaeological Revival style; a pretty and cleverly hand crafted Italian Micro Mosaic bracelet likely taken as a souvenir from Rome where the craft was a traditional one. Mosaicists use tweezers to apply hundreds or thousands of tiny pieces (tesserae) and shaped rods of coloured glass to create intricate designs and pictures, and a design such as this would have taken hours of painstaking work to create. The miniature Doves represent LOVE and also a classical motif in Roman mythology, doves were symbols of peace. They were often associated with Venus, the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, and were featured in myths and rituals as sacred animals and messengers from the gods. Mounted in tombac, a gilded base metal, it measures 7 inches when fastened.
