This rare and beautiful little pocket watch key, almost 200 years old is in pristine condition. Originally a Georgian gentlemen's fob watch key, it features a finely detailed engine turned radiating design on both faces and indeed fine decoration to every surface! Dating to around 1820, the work lavished on this little beauty is breathtaking! Engine turning or Guilloché, to give it its proper name, was originally a French technique and dates back back to around 1770. It is a design that uses two curved bands that interlace in a pattern around a central space, and is engraved using a special lathe.
Made from steel for strength and durability, the whole key is encased in 9ct gold.
This stunningly designed key would become a much loved accessory on any neck chain, bracelet or fob watch chain. It measures 3.2cm in length, and the width is 1cm at the widest point.
