Gaming of all types was enormously fashionable and popular during the Georgian period and these hand carved Mother of Pearl shell counters would once have been passed around the table at a soiree perhaps playing Quadrille which required the use of these shell counters. Beautifully incised with the most delicate of designs to both sides featuring stars, butterflies and romantically scrolling leaves framed by a linked border these are a charming and interesting curio. At some later date they have been drilled and hung on fine silver chain to which we have added handmade earwires in oxidised silver. Perfect for the casino!
The counters themselves measure 6cm in length, from the to of the earwires 10cm.
Most of our rings can be adjusted to fit for free, this can be done on purchase by making a note in the order form if you know the size, or at a later date if it is a gift.
