An exotically charming creature circa 1860's, a motif very popular with the Victorians, the snake biting his tail, 'Ouroboros' symbolises the cycle of life. An ancient symbol of renewal, it's name originates from within Greek language; (oura) meaning "tail" and (boros) meaning "eating", thus "he who eats the tail". With a friendly looking grin, baring his teeth, he clasps a sweetly heart shaped locket set with a lustrous Natural Pearl surrounded by Royal Blue guilloche enamel work in a floriate scroll. Ruby cabochons stud the eyes and add warm brightness and sparkle.
The length of the body is exquisitely tapered and fits around the throat sinuously with the scales so cleverly rendered in gorgeous warm 18ct yellow gold. The finished length is 16 inches and the clasp is cleverly hidden in the side of the head and snaps in nicely.
There is a tiny, barely noticeable enamel repair to the tail. If you are interested in making an arrangement to pay in instalments please see our Layaway Terms here.
