The Citrine or 'Cairngorm' can be found in the hillsides of Scotland and Queen Victoria's love of Scotland led to the fashion for these Scottish gemstones. This splendid example is a substantial mid Victorian faceted Citrine brooch framed by a classic twisted rope edging. It is in 9ct yellow gold which has been fire gilded with 22ct gold to deepen the colour and bring out the rich golden tones of the gemstone which displays the natural zoning wonderfully.
The gem itself measures 2cm by 1.8cm.
