A very beautifully decorative Victorian mourning ring in memory of 'Thos Mansell died May 1 1865', the legend around the outside of the band reads 'IN MEMORIAM.' The central Rococo styled shield shaped ornament is set with Black Onyx around a central lilac hued Amethyst. The outside band would most probably been enamelled in black when it was first made, but every trace of this has been lost leaving the script against the richness of the 18ct gold. The hallmark is for Birmingham and the firm of Aston and Sons of Regent Place in Birmingham.
Due to the inscription on the band it isn't possible to adjust the size. A very lovely tribute to one loved both in life and death. Size 'R' or '8 and 3/4' US.
