Date 1890 22ct Gold Signet Ring

A curious and rather sweet antique conversion; this old 22ct yellow gold wedding ring dating to 1890 has been shaped to a taper and had a small 18ct yellow gold oval centrepiece added to enable it's wearing as a signet ring (s it is rather a large size 'Q' or '8' we believe re-purposing it may have been a way for a man to wear his mother's wedding ring). We love these questions and sentimental stories that come with the jewels we find.

This ring could be returned to it's original purpose as a wedding ring (but the hallmark would be obliterated in the process), or it could be worn as is with an inscribed initial to the oval panel. The solder flows to show from it's adjustment which has been imperfectly done.
