Dating to the early 19th century and entirely hand crafted with a neat and skilled precision, this piece dates earlier than most of the pieces we have handled. The background to this piece includes the fact that in 1813-14 Malta officially became a colony of the British Empire and this was celebrated this in many ways, wearing jewellery being one of those.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExquisitely fine Filigree work is a traditional craft in Malta being worked by skilled artisans in workshops in the towns and villages.
