Circa 1870's, a pair of antique Victorian Silver and Scottish Agate dangly drop earrings. Highly fashionable in their day, we feel they add just the perfect touch of antiquity to the history lovers attire!
From the Victoria and Albert Museum;
'In the early years of the 19th century, the poetry and novels of Sir Walter Scott put Scotland on the tourist map. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were very fond of Scotland. Scottish pebble jewellery, already fashionable in the 18th century, became a popular souvenir. Birmingham jewellers responded to the demand, sometimes using stones from countries other than Scotland.'
These are ornately decorated with wheel engraving and set with shaped pieces of Bloodstone and Carnelian. Light and lovely on the ear; we have replaced the older screw back fixings with our workshop made Shepherd's crook style fittings. They measure a touch over two inches from the top of the wires.
