WOW!! 15ct Gold Etruscan Revival Drop Earrings

Elaborately and very skilfully decorated with applied wirework and granulation (tiny beads), these extravagant drop earrings take their design inspiration from jewels excavated from ancient tombs in Etruria and were soooo fashionable circa 1860. A celebration of Harvest, the leafy motif to the centre is quite exquisite, and all brings history to life. In richly golden 15ct Gold (a standard used solely in Britain between 1854-1932), we suspect that these were imagined and maybe fashioned by a clever jeweller as a conversion from an original period brooch and necklace drops. They measure 6cm from the top of the earwire and freely articulate at each joint, light and lovely to wear.
