An intriguing vintage Art Deco styled filigree Opal dress or cocktail ring dating to the mid 20th century and a beautiful tour de force in the jewellers art being entirely hand crafted. The feature gemstone is a fiery translucent cabochon Jelly or Water Opal with extraordinary rolls of magical rainbow colour on each turn of the hand.
The beautiful and skilfully hand crafted filigree setting is of fine Platinum and 18ct Yellow Gold and makes much of the contrasting elements of curves against the geometry of angles in the taste characteristic of the Art Deco style; a single old rose cut Diamond to each hand engraved shoulder. There are so many techniques involved in making such a jewel!
Jelly Opal is a type of precious Opal characterized by its translucent to semi-translucent body, which gives it a jelly-like or watery appearance; the predominant colours in this example are an aqueous turquoise blue and lime green background with rolling yellows, pinks, oranges, and sometimes touches of bright reds.
The ring size is a 'P' or '7.5' as is but easily altered to suit within say, two sizes each way as it may be overpowering for a very small hand.
