Vintage Date 1957 Diamond Engagement Ring

An adorable vintage Diamond solitaire engagement ring in the classic flowerette style which was popular in the 1950's. All hand crafted in Platinum and 18ct yellow Gold to a slender model with tiny hand engraved leafesque ornamentation to each shoulder (set with extra tiny Diamonds), the beautifully glittery brilliant cut Diamond is very lovely indeed. Inside the band is a hand engraved inscription 'Love Derrick 28/5/1957', a trace of her previous life. She sits neatly next to a band and has pleasing proportions from every view; a design both complete and romantic.

The vintage Diamond is nicely white and very sparkly throughout but under magnification one can see a natural carbon inclusion (you can see this facing the shoulder in the third image). This would have formed within the Diamond a billion or so years ago and altho' once you know where it is it's visible to the eye, it doesn't despoil the charm of the whole creation, and we have priced with this in mind. 

Buying vintage is the best choice for ethical reasons and has the added benefit of originality and that special allure which all hand crafted art has.  

Stones: Natural Diamond. A brilliant-cut measured at 0.65ct judged in the setting using a Schindler Gauge. 

Metal: 18ct yellow Gold to the band and Platinum to the setting (marked 18CT PLAT)

Ring Size: N or 6.5 as is but can easily be altered to suit

In most case the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
