Antique Victorian Gothic Revivalist Diamond Engagement Ring

A privilege to wear: a scarce and very beautiful antique Diamond engagement ring in a Gothic Revival mood and dating to the latter half of the 19th century.

Quietly contemplative, the gentle glimmer of the olden hand cut Diamond is fascinating; an old mine cut stone which could possibly date back to the 17th century and shows all the historic aspects which we love: quirky unaligned facets, a beauteous white and clean 'first water' glitter and a plump and warm cushiony shaping.

As to the hand wrought design: we particularly love the nod to the Medieval in the scalloped belcher setting to the gem and deeply carved shoulder ornamentation which reflects designs seen in ecclesiastical buildings. This was a time when folks of art and thought who could afford to wore more decorative rings to express their inclination. Crafted of solid 18ct yellow Gold, it is beautifully tapered and has a very special warm and familiar feel on the hand; a hand made one-off this ring is for careful wear to preserve her further down the years...
