Dating to the 1860's or thereabouts, this scarce and fascinating antique hand carved Coral bracelet would have been a most fashionable and desired accessory at the time she was made. Fashioned to coil or slither around the wrist in a naturalistic manner, the deep orange hue of the Mediterranean Coral is gorgeous; every aspect hand carved. In particular we are drawn to the fearsome face of this sea beast, with glaring eyes, sharp teeth and tongue! Could it perhaps offer protection to the wearer?
Stone: natural hand carved Mediterranean Coral which we have repolished by hand. Please note there is some chip damage to a couple of the sections (commensurate with wear). Shown in the video clip.
Measurements: the bracelet will fit a range of wrist sizes as it is threaded on a wire centre.
It is now illegal to purchase Coral from the seas and so antique Coral jewels have become ever more desirable.
