An especially fancy antique pocket watch key, one of those curiosities of olden days dress which interest us so! Circa 1840's, this would have hung from a chatelaine or watch chain and tucked into the waist of clothing as was the height of excessive fashion at the time. Beautifully shaped with attention to detail at each point, with pretty Acanthus leaf molding, it is of a 14ct Gold casing over a central Steel core for strength in watch winding, we imagine this old piece as a much admired pendant.
Measures 4.5cm lengthwise.
