Vintage 1940's French Art Deco Diamond Cocktail Ring

Such an adventurous and dramatic find and one which has us both very excited, this vintage 1940's Art Deco moderne Diamond cocktail ring, oft known as a 'tank' ring speaks the spirit of the time when post WWII women were feeling a new confidence.

A work of art and of a slightly smaller build than some of the others we've seen; this exotic example captures an elegant mood with interesting and dramatic views from every angle bespeaking an architectural approach. All entirely original, the whole is hand crafted by a master jeweller showing the highest art of the day in Platinum and 18ct Yellow Gold which is marked inside the band with French Assay marks. All is sturdily made and has built up a wonderful patina. 

The three natural Diamonds were recycled at the time this ring was made as in cutting style they date to earlier centuries being old mine cuts. Judged in the setting they weigh in nicely at just over a carat combined. 

All is of beautiful quality; the most striking high fashion item in her day. If you inspect our images closely you'll see the cleverness of the construction and be amazed at the work. 

Stones: natural Diamonds. Old mine cut stones dating to the 19th century which we have measured (in their setting with a Schindler Gauge) at 0.35: 0.40: 0.35ct. A combined weight of 1.10ct. 

Metal: 18ct yellow Gold with French hallmarks to the outer band. Platinum to the setting of the gems.

Ring Size: L or 5.5 as is but may be possible to alter a little for fit. 

Measurements: It weighs 9.46 grams and measures 12mm at widest point and 20.33mm across the finger. 

In most case the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
