Circa 1810-20's, a pair of pristinely romantic antique lavender Amethyst drop earrings in the girandole style and delightfully sparkly!
Entirely hand crafted in the fashion of the day, they are a precious and scarce fragment of beauty which has survived down two centuries; the gorgeous hand faceted gems mounted in cut down settings 'a jour' and were likely sourced in the Brazilian mines which supplied a wide variety of exquisite coloured gemstones for the European jewellery market.
They measure a touch under 6cm from the top of the wires and have a nice weight adding the captivating movement at each turn of the head; the Amethysts linked by fine chain intersections which encourage the sway delightfully to captivate all onlookers at the ball...
