Victorian Gothic! Antique Family Locket & Chain

Are you of a Gothic turn of mind? Would your family like to share a place in this antique locket with a trio of individuals long past? If so, please consider this rare and unusually pomander shaped family locket which dates to around the 1860's and boasts a matching guard chain.

We always hope when selling an antique locket that the new owner will simply place their new photographs over the older ones, preserving their story; however in this case it is a slightly different situation... on opening the three tiny doors, miniature oval shaped glassed apertures are revealed. Of the six in total, we have three spots available: the remainder are wedged tightly in and try as we might, we can't budge them.

Gorgeously ornamented, every surface is decorated with Gothic inspired scrollery; each door a different panel, the whole an elaborate construction adding a further mystique to the tantalising story.

Metal: Of a gold case construction in which Gold has been fused over a base metal form (a technique oft used in the construction of seal fobs and watch keys) and replete with intricate scrolled designs to each and every surface; this matched in the shaped sections to the chain. 

Measurements: The chain measures 32 inches and the locket itself one inch

In most case the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
