A unique one-of-a-kind antique filigree mounted natural red Coral pendant likely of Portuguese origin and entirely hand crafted. Shaped somewhat as an acorn, the delightfully fine hand spun filigree forms miniature flowers and 'grainti', an ancient technique traditional to the Mediterranean countries.
Seen in antique portraits and in museums, Red Coral has a long and ancient history and tradition worn as an amulet; a protection against ill health and the promotion of fertility.
Stones: natural Mediterranean Coral. Coral is a protected species and this piece is antique.
Metal: 18ct Gold, tested but unmarked
Measurements: 3cm end to end
In most case the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
