Dating to the mid 18th century and in sublime condition a scarce antique pendant, we believe of Iberian origin consisting of a gorgeously plump pear shaped centre framed by an open lacy border all set with hand faceted Rock Crystal likely from the Brazilian ‘Minas Novas’ mines which Portugal had control over at the time.
The Crystals all custom cut by hand to fit the arrangement, they were then set over foil to accentuate their immense glitter. Likely once part of a much larger set of jewels, this piece would have been quite splendid and coveted in her day and worn by only the most prestigious and wealthy; (see the portrait of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenberg-Strelitz).
Suited to a more modest (but still immensely glittery) ensemble, we feel she would make the most special wedding or birthday gift.
Stones: we have tested the stones as White Rock Crystal.
Metal: Silver, tested but unmarked.
Measurement: just over one inch lengthways, whilst the vintage Silver chain measures 17 inches in length, or you could wear slipped onto a fine pure silk ribbon.
Most of our rings can be adjusted to fit for free, this can be done on purchase by making a note in the order form if you know the size, or at a later date if it is a gift. You can download our handy ring sizing guide here, but don't hesitate to contact us if you need further help with this. If visiting us size adjustments can usually be done in around an hour-ish.
