Antique Austro Hungarian Renaissance Revival Diamond Pendant

An immensely lovely antique Austro Hungarian Renaissance Revival Diamond Pendant; ostentatiously regal, in the style which was highly fashionable in mid 19th century Austro-Hungaria under the thrall of the Habsburg Dynasty. Inspired by jewellery worn in Renaissance paintings, artisans created jewels such as this pendant. In finely (and very cleverly) hand pierced Silver and ornamented with hand cut rose Diamonds set as a 'rosette'. This element is older, the setting is of 18th century Georgian era origin with the historic old Rose Cut Diamonds even older; dating to the 16th or 17th century. Such a special piece and with such an historical interest! 

The intricated Silverwork is accented with wired Natural Pearls (likely from river mussels). It is hand fabricated and extravagantly decorated even to the reverse with wonderful scroll work, in fact this piece is an enchanting fantasy of elaboration! One could wear it as a pendant high on the neck for maximum impact, maybe centrepiece on a dress. However it is worn, it will always elicit compliments and admiring glances. 

Dating to the 1860's-70's, this is a rare and superior example of its type and deserving of a very special home in which it can be appreciated. 

Presented upon a hand dyed pure silk ribbon as would likely have been work back in the day.
