Antique Date 1914 Diamond Snake Ring

In superb condition and a gorgeous example of it's kind, this antique 9ct yellow Gold coiled snake ring feels nicely heavy on the hand. Dated by a full London hallmark to 1898, in a unisex design which was enormously popular at the time; the smoothly polished golden coils finish with the amiably shaped Diamond head.

Inspired by ancient Roman jewels which were shown in museum collections, the coiled snake ring symbolised everlasting love and so we feel this piece would make an original wedding ring. 

All hand crafted, the Gold is a soft and mellow shade; the Diamonds are olden rose cuts which would have been salvaged from some earlier jewel when this piece was made. All 100% recycled and a beautiful part of the circular economy.

This ring has most likely had an interesting life: most of which is lost to time, but we did spy inside a hand engraving in memory of 'Iris E Brill 1921-2001', meaning that this ring was once a precious token of love. So interesting, and another layer to the 'story'!

Worn since ancient times, the snake is oft considered to be a symbol of eternity and renewal; the cycle of life.

Stones: antique hand cut natural Diamonds

Metal: 9ct Gold hallmarked at the Chester Assay Office in 1914, the first year of WWI. It weighs 5.7 grams. 

Ring Size: the ring size measures as an 'L' or '5.5' and no alteration is possible. It measures 8.4mm wide on the finger.
