Antique Georgian Topaz & Seed Pearl Pendant

Dating to the 1820's or thereabouts, a touchingly beautiful handmade antique Golden Topaz and Wild Pearl pendant entirely original and once a beloved treasure. In the shape of a pretty ovalled blossom, a motif which reflected the romanticism of the age. 

The beautiful Golden Topaz gems would have been sourced at the new mines in Brazil which were then being opened up by the Portuguese. The rough stones were worked by hand, exported and set into fashionable jewels in Europe which were adored and sought after for their novelty and rarity by the wealthy across the Continent. The laboriously halved wild Pearls would likely have come from Ceylon as was (Sri Lanka) and been traded to European jewellers. So much history as well as mysterious 'herstory' which she keeps close. 

A most lovely antique jewel to celebrate and prize anew, we present her upon a golden hued pure silk ribbon but she hangs well on a chain. 

Stones: Golden Topaz set over foil for greater luminesce and halved Wild Pearls. 

Metal: 18ct yellow Gold, tested but unmarked. Pieces of this age wouldn't have been subject to hallmarking. 

Measurements: 16mm excluding the ring bale. We believe this jewel was once a clasp as evidenced by the small square aperture on the side. 

In most cases the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
