A pretty and collectable antique Saphiret stickpin mounted in 9ct Gold. Saphiret is an enchanting dichroic (colour changing depending on your viewpoint) which was produced in Gablonz in Czechoslovakia in the early 20th century.
Saphiret was made by fusing melted gold into sapphire-colored glass. The result is a glass that appears brick red or brown, but reflects blue on the surface with an ability to change colour from deep blue to violet under different lighting conditions. An expensive process, the period during which it was made was short.
The pin measures 6cm in length and the stone 6mm across.
