Enchanting 1880's Victorian Japonaiserie Locket

Circa 1880's and displaying a plethora of naturalistic inspirations seen in Eastern arts that was soooo fashionable at the time, this piece is of a lower grade Silver than standard and hand crafted (likely in one of the workshops in Birmingham's famous jewellery quarter) with applied Gold elements giving a gorgeous three dimensional effect which is just delightful. This splendid Victorian locket is so wonderfully decorative, with fluted edges around the central hand engraved panel; a range of techniques have been used to create the harmonious design. 

Remaining in good condition otherwise despite 150 years there is some loss to the Gold Rose on the right but we couldn't resist her beauty and feel that this 'damage' is commensurate with wear and in some ways adds to her charm. It measures 5cm lengthwise without the bale and closes with a pleasing 'click' to keep those precious photographs safe.
