Dedicated to the memory of 'Sarah Moul Ob 20 March 1831 Aet 39', achingly full of emotion, we imagine that this exquisitely beautiful Georgian mourning ring would most likely have been worn by a daughter or sister. So much sadness to bear, this ring would have given some comfort and sense that Sarah was still close. 

We have found from our research that Sarah Moul from Hoxton was buried on 26th March 1831 at Bunhill Burial Grounds in Middlesex (London). We have saved the document here. 

Born in 1792 to James who was a servant to a wine merchant and his wife Mary (see their settlement papers which show them needing financial help from the local poor law inspectors). Her older siblings were named Mary and James. 


 

The design is so totally hand made and poignantly detailed with meaning in every aspect; the central rock crystal covered plaque curves to hold a small section of plaited hair and is surrounded by an enamelled frame. The band itself is beautifully enamelled in a gothic font 'In Memory Of', the edges ornamented with faded scrolls and floral motifs.

We have had this piece restored by our clever enameller Katja. 

Metal: The whole in 18ct yellow gold with full hallmarks for London 1831. Weighs 7.09 grams.

Ring Size: It isn't possible to size, but it is a nice average 'N/6. 

Measurements: 1mm wide on the finger.
