Date 1892 Shield Shaped Sardonyx Signet Ring
An distinguished antique heraldic style signet ring in shield shape and set with a delicious layered Sardonyx (which when carved with a design will show the darker layer contrasted against the pale surface). In impeccable condition for it's age, the shoulders are ornamented with scrolling Acanthus leaves, a symbol of immortality, fitting for a ring destined to hold a family crest. Of 15ct yellow Gold, the Birmingham hallmark was struck in 1892 and the maker's mark 'S.U' which we believe is Solomon Ullman, a jeweller who had premises in Hatton Garden, London.
A ring size 'R and a half' or '8 and three quarters', but we can alter to fit in our workshop.
