Date 1895 Shield Shaped Sardonyx Signet Ring
An distinguished antique heraldic style signet ring in shield shape and set with a delicious layered Sardonyx (which when carved with a design will show the darker layer contrasted against the pale surface).
In impeccable condition for its age, the shoulders are ornamented with Arts & Crafts inspired decoration fitting for a ring destined to hold a family crest. Of nicely mellow 15ct yellow Gold, the Birmingham hallmark was struck in 1895 and the maker's mark 'S.U.' which we believe is Solomon Ullman, a jeweller who had premises in Hatton Garden, London.
Stone: Layered Sardonyx (we show as is, but the stone can be polished for brighter shine if desired)
Metal: 15ct yellow Gold hallmarked in 1895 at the Birmingham Assay Office
Ring Size: 'P' or '7.5', but we can alter to fit in our workshop.
Weight: 5.5 grams
