A very handsome vintage Diamond ring in the unisex style which was popular in the day, with a chunky solid 18ct Gold band clasping an old hand cut natural Diamond. The style owes much to Medieval designs which were still enjoyed decades after the Gothic Revival in the mid 19th century; see our images...
The Diamond was cut sometime in the 19th century to an old recipe which respects the natural crystalline shaping of the gem; in this case it is a plump oval; all faceted with larger facets than you'll see nowadays (see our image for an example). And all extra points of interest.
Nicely weighty in 18ct Gold, it was hallmarked at the London Assay Office in 1929 and has a gorgeous substance on the hand; with barely any wear in the (almost) century since its creation.
