Circa 1820's/30's, this sweet open fronted heart shaped Georgian picture locket is in the gorgeously elaborate Rococo style so fashionable at the time.
It has a faded gold plating and retains the original decorative bale and it is backed with a most gorgeous florid design of Roses and leafage which also frames the centre glassed compartment which we have managed to remove and clean. This compartment could hold a favourite image or dried flowers or even a scrap of precious fabric and it could be worn with either side showing. Such a sentimental find!
Metal: base metal with faded gilding.
Measurements: Measures 2cm lengthwise. Presented on a golden silk ribbon as it would likely have been worn back in the day two centuries ago...
In most cases the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
