Fashioned of old, but perennially beautiful, a compellingly sparkly vision of shimmering loveliness. A splendid diadem featuring a profusion of old hand cut Diamonds, we believe this jewel was originally part of a larger suite of interchangeable pieces as it has fixings to the reverse which may have fixed it to a band or necklace. Circa 1860-70 and of French origin, this fabulous jewel has fixings enabling it to be worn as a brooch or a pendant (the pendant loop tucks neatly out of the way and the tip to the pin is covered when fastened) and we feel this piece would make a fascinating and exotic centrepiece to an evening dress or jacket lapel. A piece to keep as a family heirloom, precious old jewels such as this are a scarce find nowadays and one to treasure.
The design is a attractive pear shape with a raised centrepiece illuminated by seven wonderful old hand cut Diamonds, all set in darkened Silver, and then framed by leafy tendrils set with further small Rose Cut Diamonds, the whole surmounted by a Fleur de Lys to the top and with four pretty sparklies trembling temptingly below. Oh sigh.... all is sooo delightfully inspired!
The gallery to the reverse is equally finely crafted in 18ct yellow Gold. The whole measures two inches lengthwise and we judge the combined weight of the Diamonds to be two and a half carats!
