The Lyre is traditionally associated with classical civilizations and particularly the Greek myth of Orpheus, a legendary musician whose lyre charmed nature and even the underworld to restore his wife Eurydice, and hence symbolizing an enduring love.
See the image of a woman playing a Lyre found at Pompeii. This gorgeous antique brooch was made with great care to incorporates beautifully furled details to the instrument of Love.. entirely set with gently lustrous and naturally formed Sea Oyster Pearls. Most lovely!
Stones: wild natural Sea Pearls (read more about how these were gathered here)
Metal: 18ct yellow Gold (marked SS18 to the reverse)
Measurements: measures one inch lengthwise and closes with a classic 'C' clasp.
In most case the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
