Victorian Carbuncle Garnet Diamond Star Pendant

A conversion from a brooch which itself likely once had an earlier incarnation, this 'Carbuncle' Garnet is surmounted by a six-pointed Star, an ancient symbol of divinity with meaning in many cultures. A wonderful talisman, the charming olden Diamonds are all hand cut in the form of a central old early brilliant and six rose cuts set in a greyed Silver Star. Just so charming to see under the lens...

This piece was damaged, with a diagonal crack to the Garnet and one can see the remains of the brooch fitting to the reverse, but we're hoping someone will love her as is, and have priced accordingly. 

All is of rich 18ct yellow Gold and fitted with a bale made from an old stick pin (we like to recycle everything we possibly can).

Shown in our images with an antique chain which is not included in the price. 

The chain shown is a contemporary oval shaped snake chain which we feel perfectly suits the mood. It is of Silver plated with 18ct yellow Gold and measures 18 inches. 

Stones: cabochon Pyrope Garnet

Metal: 18ct yellow Gold (tested but unmarked).

Measurements: It measures a diameter of 16mm.

In most cases the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
