Superior Vintage Five Stone Hand Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

Such an incredibly sparkly display for this especially lovely vintage Diamond engagement ring! Dating to the mid 20th century and beautifully hand crafted, the five old hand cut Diamonds were recycled in making this ring as they date from the early 19th century. What is really special is the beauty of the light which is refracted from the hand cut facets; just magical, and one can imagine how these would originally have twinkled in candlelight.

Each of the stones was cut from a single Diamond crystal in sympathy with the original earth borne beauty, plump in profile and oh, so captivating! The stones aren't certificated as is common with modern Diamonds, but what they do have is their own, unique and scarce charm. They each have a gentle pale champagne hue and under 10x magnification the skilled eye can see small natural inclusions which formed of trapped gases and carbon billions of years ago under pressure in the earth's mantle. However, generally they are clean to the eye and tremendously glittersome!

Unique, like trembling drops of water, the tiniest space between each cushiony shaped stone, graduated everso slightly in size to the edges of the finger, the combined weight we have measured at 1.60cts (conservatively judged with a Schindler gauge). See how plump the gems are from the side view? A great deal of the weight with these antique stones is in the height, and so our judgement is conservative as we'd rather offer you too much breathtakingly magical old hand cut Diamond, than too little! The finely fancy crowned setting of Platinum was made entirely by hand, with great skill, and this rests upon the chunky rounded 18ct yellow Gold band. If you look closely at our 10 x magnified images you might see the saw marks...

Stones: natural antique hand cut Diamonds.  We judge the stones in their setting at around 0.25 :0.45 :0.50 :0.35 :0.35 (1.60ct in total judged conservatively with a Schindler Gauge).

Metal: 18ct yellow Gold to the band and Platinum to the setting. Marked with a workshop stamp '18CT PLAT' inside the band. 

Ring Size: Q or 8 as is but suitable to alter somewhat for fit. This is a free service, just leave a message on your order form.

Measurements: the ring measures 2cm across the 'face' and so isn't suitable for too small a hand. 

In most cases the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
