Remaining in wonderful condition: dedicated to 'Margt Parker OB APR 1798 AE 71', this flat band style mourning ring is inlaid with black enamel to pick out the lettering.
Inside the band is the poignant inscription, 'Not lost but gone before'.
The hallmark features the head of George III and the Lion Passant and was assayed in London in 1798, an early incidence before the '18' mark to indicate 18ct Gold was adopted. There is also a makers mark which we believe to be for Thomas Mann of London.
Born in 1727, we're still researching Margaret's story as she lived before it was compulsory to register births or deaths.
Metal: 18ct yellow Gold. Weighs 4.63 grams.
Ring Size: T or 9.5 as is but unsuitable to alter due to the enamel.
Measurements: 7.06mm wide.
In most cases the boxes are for display only but a nice quality modern reproduction box will accompany this piece.
Most of our rings can be adjusted to fit for free, this can be done on purchase by making a note in the order form if you know the size, or at a later date if it is a gift. You can download our handy ring sizing guide here, but don't hesitate to contact us if you need further help with this. If visiting us size adjustments can usually be done in around an hour-ish.
