Rose Cut Diamonds
Rose cut Diamonds have been cut since at least the fifteenth century. After point cuts and table cuts they were the next development towards increasing the scintillating 'fire' of Diamonds.
Roses are flat backed (often mounted on reflective foil for extra brilliance) with facets which are usually triangular shaped like tesserae over the dome. Sometimes round, triangular or pear shaped, they have a characteristically geometric glister in which the light traces over the shape of the facets to fabulously romantic effect.
